The problem with Hinge

The challenge was to integrate a photo-sharing feature that enriches conversations while maintaining a safe environment and preventing misuse. The goal was to design a solution that is simple, reliable, and fully under the user’s control.

Risk without a photo-sharing feature: Lack of such functionality could lead to lower engagement and user migration to other platforms.

From concept to prototype

From concept to prototype

I intentionally chose to move straight into high-fidelity design to challenge myself and simulate real-world company constraints. The goal was to quickly deliver a viable prototype, able to present stakeholders with a concrete and usable concept.

Result : A secure and transparent experience

I designed a solution that allows a user to request permission to send photos. Once access is granted by the recipient, photo sharing becomes possible — and the authorization can be withdrawn at any time. This approach ensures both safety and trust between users.

From theory to practice

In addition to the main scenarios, I also considered less frequent use cases, often referred to as “edge cases.” These special situations were taken into account to ensure that the experience remains reliable and secure in every circumstance.
